I was walking around at Sunway Pyramid searching for Sunway Pyramid West, two days ago after receiving an invitation to a food review at Menya Miyabi. So, it's in Sunway Clio Hotel , the new wing of Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall complex. Another new extension to this super mall!
Menya Miyabi serves truly Japanese ramen from Hokkaido, Japan and this is the 5th outlet after establishing 3 in Hokkaido and one in Queensbay Mall in Penang. The ramen was wholly made by its own factory with the guarded recipe from Hokkaido, of course!
Yaki-Miso Ramen (Fried soya bean taste flavour) - RM25
This is the main highlight dish of Menya Miyabi, the Yaki-Miso Ramen. It is soya broth based with a thin slice of cooked pork, onsen egg, strips of bamboo shoot and seaweed. The broth is made from soya bean, creamish white but a bit too saltish to me. Maybe because I am actually not one of the crazy ramen lovers (despite so many ramen restaurants opening in Malaysia recently). We were given a demo of how this ramen was prepared which I will describe later.
Tonkotsu Ramen (Pork broth flavour) - RM25.
Slurp, slurp, slurp, we were busy enjoying the broth! Why? "Oh, there are lots of collagen inside this broth" said Mr. Takana, one of the directors that this restaurant. As ladies know, collagen is good for our skin, who would let such a good chance go by? Mr. Takana goes on to explain that the broth is made by cooking pork bones for more than 7 hours. No wonder this broth tastes creamier, thicker, more flavourful and nutritious with loads of collagen!

The next dish served is Tonkotsu Ramen.

Gyoza (Fried Dumplings) 6 pcs - RM13, 10 pcs - RM19
Yes, this Gyoza is definitely everyone's favourite, nice juicy on the inside. Its machine made and crispy on the fried side while still retaining its moisture of the fillings inside.
Kara Miso Ramen (Hot and Spicy Miso Ramen) - RM26
If normal miso ramen is boring for you, try the spicy version then. The slice of pork is replaced by pieces of pork chunks. The spiciness is just nice for me, not too spicy. But for those who want a tinge more spicier to excite your palate, you can add more chilli flakes.
Yaki Ramen (Tasty Fried Ramen) - RM24
It definitely gets better as the dishes keep coming. We were intrigued with this dish indeed. Nicely presented, and wow, the scrambled eggs did wow some of us egg lovers over! My first time tasting Fried Ramen! Verdict? It is tasty, flavourful with vegetables, pork slices and lastly the lightly cooked scrambled eggs. This is a unique dish indeed!
Hokkaido Chilled Ramen Salad - RM19
Salad, the normal ones we usually have is just vegetables and seasoning. But, now, this Hokkaido Chilled Ramen Salad is a highly recommended dish and a must order wan. The ramen is cold and springy, accompanied by corns, salad and the seasoning is sesame oil ans sesame seed sauce. Sweet, sour and cold, it is just nice and suitable to our local Malaysian hot weather.
So, there you are, need extra noodles if you are a big eater? It's FOC and the soup too, you can request for extra or tell them if you prefer a milder flavor.
The kitchen is open concept, and we were invited to see how the Yaki-Miso Ramen is cooked.
The big pot of base broth prepared earlier for the day's business.
Cooking of the individual bowl of Yaki-Miso Ramen. Pooh! everyone suddenly move backwards quickly.
Meanwhile the Ramen is being cooked in one of these pots
Ready ramen and soup poured into the serving bowl
Then, lastly the garnishing and the onsen eggs placed on top
There, which table does this goes? Of course she knows her job well.
Although of average space as in shopping malls restaurant, the interior is tastefully decorated.
Maximisation of space is neatly utilized.
