CAROUSELL LIVE! TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE MALAYSIAN RED CRESCENT SOCIETY

The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) is partnering with Carousell, one of the world’s largest and fastest growing mobile classifieds marketplace for its Carousell LIVE! flea market

 Malaysian Red Cresent is one of 191 National Societies that are members of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), which together with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) are components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

Founded by three passionate and enterprising men in Singapore, Lucas Ngoo, Quek Siu Rui and Marcus Tan in 2012, Carousell is a mobile and online consumer to consumer marketplace for buying and selling new and second-hand goods available in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Australia. Co-founders Siu Rui and Lucas were also recognised by Forbes Asia in its annual 30 Under 30 list.

MRCS will raise funds by selling pre-loved goods from MRCS. This event will be used to raise fund for MRCS’ activities such as the disaster relief operation, health and community service, capacity building as well as in youth development.

Carousell LIVE! will also feature booths by 20 top Carousellers and celebrities such as Zahiril Adzim, Sheira Ayoub, Nadia Brian, Sarah Hidelbrand, Nabil Mahir, Shalma Ainaa, and Natrah, who will be selling new and pre-loved items in the fashion, accessories, art and electronic goods categories. Visitors will almost certainly find some great deals for these pre-loved items.

This marks Carousell’s continued commitment towards a community-driven mobile marketplace, which promotes a sustainable lifestyle.  This vision is very much shared by MRCS, with its strong foundation built on humanity, independence, neutrality, impartiality, voluntary service, unity and universality, the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

The fundraising collaboration highlights the importance of joint engagement to build a safer and disaster-resilient country.
