Zen & Co. Happy Garden, Japanese Fusion for Lunch, Dinner, or Brunch

 

Tuck in between the rows of shops at Jalan Lazat 2, Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur, Zen & Co Restaurant has never-ending customers, and full house most of the time, especially during lunch and dinner. The restaurant here is minimalist in decorations and very down-to-earth and functional. 

Anyway, it is the food and price of drinks that matters to most customers. Japanese fusion plus good quality coffee, unique, isn't it? Normally people would just drink green tea at a Japanese restaurant. Well, it is a must-try here for coffee drinkers too. So if a group of friends has both crazy Japanese foodies and coffee lovers, this is the place to go! This is the place for reasonably priced fusion food, dessert, and beverages. Some of the branches (The Coasters) have full bar counter service for those who like to chill and drink.

 I was impressed by the good and friendly service here too. The following photos are some of the food I had for lunch: 

Set Lunch: Carbonara + Iced Lemon Tea + Free side dish: RM19.90

Set Lunch: Spicy Asari Pasta + Hot Lemon Tea + side dish - RM19.90 

Pasta sauteed with garlic, leek, assorted mushrooms, clams, and chili flakes. Spicy? Yes, quite, especially when you get to bite into the small pieces of chili padi! Not for those who can't handle spicy food. 

 

Teriyaki Cheese Pork: RM20.90

This is a dish of grilled marinated pork, fries, assorted salad, topped with cheese and teriyaki sauce. The portions are ok, but I am surprised with the cheese. I expected a gravy of cheese to be poured on top of the grilled marinated pork. But what I had is like a slice of cheese placed on the pork and heated until it is half melted. 



For Zen & Co, food consistency is achieved by having a Central Kitchen. Thus in this way, it ensures and maintains good quality food for customers.
