Taste of "Baling Balik' pizza at my Pizza Lab @ Seapark, Petaling Jaya

Oh my, so this is a lab? I have been eating pizzas, but what does a lab do? Okay, I surrender, people nowadays are very creative with names of shops, restaurants, and cafes. I know of one cafe named "Somewhere in Town" and another "Nowhere in Town"! Well, My Pizza Lab is actually a cafe selling pizzas of course! It is situated next to MyBurger Lab and going by the name, the owners are the same.

 

I went to My Pizza Lab a few weeks ago as I heard of its popularity.  Pizza Lab is situated just next door to BurgerLab. It is opened by the same co-founder of MyBurgerLab, Renyi. He wanted to reinvent pizza that is neither Italian or New York pizza style. For most people, including me, I like to eat the inside of  pizza but do not like the crust. So here at My Pizza Lab, the crust is different and it is just as flavourful as the pizza itself! The texture is that of focaccia bread, with a slight crisp on outside and soft on the inside. 

Cheese & Tomato Pizza - Rm28.00

We ordered Cheese & Tomato Pizza as my girl likes cheese very much. This pizza comes with quite a lot of cheese toppings that live up to its name. There is Mozzarella cheese, Parmesan, Cheddar, blue cheese, cheese mayo, and fresh cherry tomatoes. All the flavors blended well and the taste was divine. 

Yes, this pizza at My Pizza Lab is not like the usual pizza that I have eaten before. 

From the menu, I saw an interesting name....... Oh, I must try this one! The name is 'Baling Balik' What type of pizza is it? 

Baling Balik - RM 16.00

This whole plate comes looking exactly like a pizza. Not small, it is 7 inches big. So, what is inside? After taking out a slice, I can see lots of toasted peanuts falling out. There is this generous filling of pounded toasted peanuts, then big lumps of cream corn and topped with desiccated coconut. Well, do you know what this is? It is actually our local delicacy/kueh called "apam balik". What a great idea of making it into a pizza. Very creative indeed! Taste wise of course it is delicious. A must try for the "Apam Balik" addicts.  

These two pieces of pizza are just nice for dinner for us two ladies. 

The total bill comes to RM44.00. We did not order any drinks as the plain water is supplied free of charge here.
