Coach Airways, Coach Malaysia debuts World's First Retail in a Boeing 747

Let's shop in Style! Let's shop in the Queen of Sky! This is a first in the world of retail shopping where everyone and anyone can experience shopping in an aircraft Boeing 747 that landed for good in Freeport A'Famosa Outlet. The Queen of the Sky, as the Boeing 747 is affectionately known, has now landed at the Queen of Retail turf, Freeport A'Famosa Outlet. Coach Airways offers a fusion of aviation and luxury shopping in this golden age of travel.

This ambitious project started in April 2021 and completed recently in May 2023. Boeing 747 has a length of 231 feet 10 inches and a wingspan of 195 feet 8 inches, was once hailed as the largest civilian aircraft in the world during the late1960s. Today, it takes on a new role as the world's first-ever Coach outlet in a Boeing 747, named Coach Airways. 

YAB Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Bin Yusoh, Chief Minister of Malacca launched Coach Airways last Sunday said, “Coach Airways is the latest addition to the heart of Malacca, which marks a significant milestone in the state's dedication to enhancing its tourism offerings for the public. This launch aligns with the objectives of Visit Malacca 2024 to achieve the targeted visitors. Beyond shopping, this establishment represents a symbol of luxury and prestige for all Malaysians, especially Malaccans"

Datuk Julian Lau, Director of Freeport A’Famosa Outlet said, “This project has been in the works for the past two years and it took an immense effort by the team to redesign this mega Boeing 747 Jumbo aircraft into an exclusive one-of-a-kind retail destination by Coach”.

Dato’ Dr. Ammar Abd. Ghapar, Director-General, Tourism Malaysia, congratulated the management team of Freeport A’Famosa Outlet for achieving the Malaysia Book of Record’s recognition for the “First Retail Concept Store in An Airplane”, adding to the vast accolades of the state of Malacca to inspire Malaysians to excel in various fields to the extent of surpassing the world standards. 

The Freeport A'Famosa Outlet was also awarded the “Unique Retail Experience” of 2023 by the Malaysian Association of Theme Parks & Family Attractions (MATFA) earlier this month, signifying Freeport A'Famosa Outlet as a must-visit destination where fashion, history, and innovation converge to provide an unforgettable retail experience. Therefore, aviation enthusiasts and shoppers alike come and be prepared to be captivated.

1. Get your air ticket. (An entry pass resembling an air ticket)

2. Walk up along the air bridge into the plane. 

3. You will enter the mock-up cockpit where you can take as many photos imagining that you are a pilot or air stewardess. 

4. The snap pics at seats in this lounge, just like you are sitting inside a real plane ready for take off.

5. Explore the interior and its retail cabins of a curated selection of fashion wear, bags, and travel accessories. Get exclusive Coach Airways Collection of T-shirts, passport leather cases, wheeled carry-on luggage, and field tote and travel accessories such as luggage tags, pouches, and small wallets, printed with a limited-edition reimagination of the house's iconic Signature. 

 

6. Spaces are fully utilized here, so you can try out items of clothing inside the fitting room that is renovated from toilets in the aircraft.
